Group - Build & Grow

Window Bird House

What Happens once a bird moves in?

When a bird moves into your birdhouse,it'll begin to build a nest for its family using twigs, moss, grass, and other items around the area.

If no birds are moving in,try moving your bird house to a different location. A quiet window that people aren't around often is best!

Stems

Observation of Stems
Every week we pick a different part of a flower or plant seed, stem, grass blades etc... I have each one set up for a total of a week. The children in our home form there own observation & compare the plants that we've gathered together or that I have set out for them.
I DO NOT drill into them all the parts or scientific words, at this age it's a Stem that provides "LIFE" to the plant. They'll typically converse together and ask questions on there own, it is at that point I will answer.
When their friends come over they're happy to express there new found knowledge.

Nature
Our Life,Our Planet,Our Home
IF we teach our children about NATURE and that all around us is "LIFE".It is in this teaching they will have a GREATER respect for our precious planet "EARTH".

See Water Travel

Photosynthesis
Plant can't go to the store to buy there own food,so how do they get it? Plants take water and carbon dioxide {a gas in the air}, and use sunlight to turn them into a kind of sugar called glucose. The plants use the glucose as food for energy and as building blocks for growing. They get help from something called chlorophyll, which gives leaves their green color. The process where plants turn water and carbon dioxide into sugar is called "photosynthesis".It means "putting together with light".

The Bernals ~ Dove Family

The kids and I have been visiting the dove family for a few weeks now. They reside for the third straight year in a row at our wonderful neighbor Dolores's home {well planter}.The mother has been sitting on eggs,or the babies during all of our visits, until today that is.They were out and soooo big already, she stays very still, firm and observant, with my camera so close to her.The babies on the other hand were a little fidgety...I apologized kindly, thanked them for the few quick shots I got and attempted to slowly move away.Wow...how great nature is "I thought to myself and expressed to the boys". Until low and behold the daddy bird swoops in to check on mommy and the babies. Obviously,I worried him.....he was so intent on making sure things were as they were supposed to be.He stood tall in front of them...."AMAZING"....we were to not get near his family.Again a few shots of him and we left well enough alone.
He did'nt stay long {so I thought} until I looked over at the fence and there he was, watching like a HAWK {well a dove}. How cool was that......
